The “Nazar” or Turkish Eye is said to be a powerful amulet against the “evil eye”. It is an ancient symbol preserved to this day by the Greeks, Turks, and Arabs, and widely used by their peoples and others for protection.. including of homes when incorporated in decorative objects.
The belief is that since it is made of a breakable material such as glass, should the “Nazar” break, it has fulfilled its protective function by breaking the negative energy, and as such, is replaced with a new one.
